Effective immediately, Modern Machinery Co., Inc. (“Modern Machinery”) has appointed Lamont Cantrell as President. Lamont joined the company in 2003.

Lamont is well-known and highly respected in the heavy equipment industry. He has played a key role in building Modern Machinery into a sales and service leader. Director Larry Simkins said “Modern has been fortunate to have Lamont’s leadership, energy and passion for nearly two decades. This opportunity for Lamont to lead at the highest level of the company is a testament to his commitment to the company. We look forward to working closely with Lamont.”

Lamont began his career in construction and mining in 1978, when he started with the newly-formed Komatsu America as District Manager over Ohio, Pennsylvania and the Northeastern US. In 1987, he moved to the retail side of the industry as Construction and Mining Group Sales Manager for Anderson Equipment Company in Pittsburgh, PA. He continued moving west in 1997, taking the position of General Manager for Roland Machinery, based in Chicago, IL. In 2003, Lamont joined Modern Machinery Company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, which he held until his 2018 move to the role of Chief Operating Officer – US Operations.

Lamont replaces Mark Fallon, who has been President of Modern Machinery since 2018. Mark, who also served as President of another Washington Company, Envirocon, Inc., is leaving to pursue an opportunity in the construction industry. We appreciate Mark’s leadership and guidance during his time at Modern Machinery and Envirocon.
