Modern Machinery

Modern Machinery Co., Inc. sells and rents heavy equipment, and supplies parts and service to support the construction, mining, aggregate, and logging industries.

Modern Machinery’s territory spans the northwest United States, with branches in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Subsidiary company Spokane Machinery extends Modern’s equipment representation with complete design, engineering, and fabrication capabilities. Modern is one of the largest Komatsu dealers in the United States. Modern also represents a number of complementary product lines, including Astec Industiries, Carlson, Dynapac, Epiroc, Esco, Pioneer, Sennebogen, Spomac Fabrications, Stanley LaBounty and TimberPro.

Montana Resources

Montana Resources LLC operates an open pit copper and molybdenum mine in Butte, Montana, near the Continental Divide.

Montana Resources has produced over 2.5 billion pounds of copper and more than 300 million pounds of molybdenum since operations began in 1985. Current ore reserves are sufficient to provide mining beyond 2054. Ore is processed in a crusher/concentrator facility to yield high-grade concentrates that are shipped to smelters in the United States and overseas. Montana Resources employs more than 400 people. Continuing a century-old tradition of mining in Butte, the company is a deeply involved citizen of its community.

Seaspan Marine

Seaspan Marine provides marine transportation and ship docking services along the coast and in the harbors of the Pacific Northwest.

With over 130 years of experience navigating in some of the world’s most complex and difficult waters, Seaspan Marine is the largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canada’s West Coast. Seaspan Marine’s diverse fleet of barges transports a wide range of cargo, including forest products, oil, chemicals, bulk commodities and rail cars. Seaspan Shipyards consists of three shipyards that has a solid reputation for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of all types of vessels.

Located on the Pacific Northwest Coast, Seaspan Shipyards operations include Vancouver Shipyards, Vancouver Drydock and Victoria Shipyards. As a result of its diversity and capacity, Seaspan Shipyards is unique in its ability to provide a complete range of shipyard services including new construction, conversion, refit, repair, life-cycle maintenance and refurbishment work for naval, research and commercial vessels including cruise-ships, deep-sea vessels and submarines.

Southern Railway of British Columbia Limited (SRY) is a major transporter of freight in British Columbia.

SRY is based in New Westminster, B.C., and serves the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, providing seamless service and connections to markets throughout North America. SRY owns over 125 miles of track, of which 62 miles are mainline, and interchanges with four North American Class I railroads: SRY’s Annacis Rail Marine Terminal is a vital link for rail freight between the mainland and Vancouver Island.

Aviation Partners

Montana Rail Link

On January 1, 2024, pursuant to authority granted by the Surface Transportation Board, Montana Rail Link (“MRL”) discontinued all active rail operations. BNSF Railway Company (“BNSF”) assumed operations across the former MRL lines on the newly-designated MRL Subdivision of the Montana Division of BNSF.
