Jack Standa
President of Montana Resources, Jack Standa is an expert in innovative, cost-effective and sustainable solutions for resource extraction. As such, his methods are implemented in mines around the globe including the United States, Canada, Australia and Indonesia.
Mr. Standa began his career with Peter Kiewit Construction and BHP Minerals where he was principally charged with operating several surface and underground mines for more than 14 years. He then spent nine years in Indonesia’s mining and energy sector where his guidance helped fuel Indonesia’s vastly expanding industrialized economy. Returning to his home state of Montana, Mr. Standa was most recently the senior general manager of Westmoreland Rosebud Mining in Colstrip, Montana.
Prized by a deep respect for the land Montana Resources operates on, Mr. Standa is originally from Phillipsburg, Montana. Mr. Standa has a mining degree from Montana Tech, a Masters of Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago where his son, Jacob, is currently attending. Mr. Standa and his wife, Nia, are proud to call Butte, Montana – America’s legendary mining town – home.
