Derek Ollmann, President, Seaspan Marine Transportation, effective January 1, 2023, began his transportation career in 1999 and most recently served as President of Montana Rail Link. Mr. Ollmann has been with Washington Companies for more than 20 years. He is a seasoned international railroad executive with expertise in multinational railroad logistics, operations and management. Over his lengthy career, Mr. Ollmann helped Washington Companies vastly and efficiently expand their North American railway network.

Appointed MRL president in November 2019, Mr. Ollmann previously served at the helm of Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRY). There, he oversaw an operation of over 125 miles of track and interchanges with 29 locomotives and 2,000 rail cars, hauling over 70,000 carloads per year. Prior to serving as the company’s president, Mr. Ollmann advanced through numerous SRY positions including director of operations, conductor, operations supervisor, assistant superintendent and superintendent.

Mr. Ollmann obtained his Certificate of Management from Simon Fraser University and his MBA from Royal Roads University. He is a member of the operations, regulatory and safety committee of The Railway Association of Canada.
